ONI Bureau: Odisha Government on Monday opposed the plan to set up a Water Aerodrome in Chilika Lake, said it would affect the marine ecosystem of the lake.
Earlier on Saturday, the Civil Aviation Ministry has approved a proposal for setting up of water aerodromes at Chilika Lake in Odisha and Sardar Sarovar Dam and Sabarmati River Front in Gujarat in first phase to promote tourism as well as connect places of religious importance.
Senior BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma today urged the Centre toreconsider the proposal as it will affect birds and marine life inside Chilika lake.
His statement came after BJD MP Tathagata Satpathy strongly opposed the proposed central project.
