Odisha Govt to set up Modern Truck Terminal at Paradeep

The State Government on Friday proposed to set up a modern truck terminal at Paradeep.

Under the Chairmasnhip Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, the proposal for develelopment of a modern bus terminal at Paradeep was put on the table in a high level meeting held in secretarit conference hall yesterday.

The terminal will have the facilities like weigh bridge , fuel stations, cold storages, godowns, workshop, rest reas, police staions, RTO office, health care facilities, check posts, Post offices, banks, administrative block, drinking water, lectricity, toilets, shops, lodging facility etc.

The cost of the project has preliminarily been estimated around Rs.55 cr. It has been proposed to develop the project in collaboration with Paradeep Port Trust.

The objectives of the proposal included curtailing of congestion on roads, smooth passage of the vechicles, smooth passage of load bearing trucks in and out of the port and controlling of polutioon level of the road sides & canals. The project will also provide additional health and other utility services to the drivers and transporters.

Avialble data show that the project would be developed over an area of 38 acrers for which land has already been identified near Bhutmundei.

Presently around 1200 trucks are plying to Paradeep port. The terminal will have facility for around 1500 trucks. Other companies operating in Paradeep can also make use of this terminal facility for their trucks and transporters.
