Odisha Govt to spend Rs 71 crore for anti-Maoist operations

ONI Bureau: Odisha Government today approved an annual budget of Rs 71 crore for 2017-18 for anti-Maoist operations under the Security Related Expenditure (SRE) scheme.

The committee approved the SRE budget ahead of a crucial meeting of the Central government on December 11, Home Secretary, Asit Tripathy informed.

Security Related Expenditure scheme is aimed at supplement efforts of the States to deal with naxalite problem effectively.

The fund is utilized to meet arms and ammunition expenses of paramilitary forces, for construction/strengthening of fortified police stations, to train police personnel and to provide ex-gratia to families of civilians or security personnel killed during anti-Maoist operations and provide funds to the CAPFs for Civic Action Programme in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected areas.
