Odisha Minister directs to complete Raghurajpur Project

Bhubaneswar, Sep 15: Odisha Minister for Handloom, Textiles & Handicraft Snehangini Chhuria directed officials to complete Raghurajpur project by November 15, reviewing the work at a high-level meeting today. The minister visited there and reviews the progress of the work done at the village.

Raghurajpur is a heritage crafts village in Puri district, Odisha, known for its master Pattachitra painters. The central government has sanctioned Rs 10 crore to develop Raghurajpur as “Ideal Craft Village”. The village is famous for its craft and painting. Many foreign tourists visit the village to see the craft work of the villagers.

It was informed in the meeting that, the central government had released Rs 3 crore in the first phase. Many works including – Handloom Development Centre, Society House, MP Theatre, development of pond and beautification – were completed utilizing the released fund under first phase.

The minister was informed at the meeting that, under the project – doors of every house in the village to be designed with decorative work and water, sanitation facility, guest house would be constructed in the village. And, the state government will spend Rs 14 crore for the promotion and development of the craft village.
