Odisha Ministers warns against Hoarding Pulses

Bhubaneswar, Oct 24: Action would be taken against hoarders of pulses in Odisha, state Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare (FS&CW) Minister Sanjay Dasburma said on Friday as raids were conducted at various places to unearth hoarded stocks of lintels.

Dasburma’s warning to traders against irregularities in holding pulses stocks came after the supplies department seized large quantities of pulses from a warehouse in Mancheswar area.

“The department is conducting raids. We would certainly take action against the godown as per the legal procedures if irregularities are found,” said Dasburma.

The officials have seized the stocks from a godown of Manashya Associates, located in the capital city for allegedly hoarding pulses.

Sources said, while huge numbers of poly-sacks containing pulses were found stacked inside the warehouse, an equal quantity was found lying on the floor.

“We have sealed the godown after seizing the pulses. Appropriate action will be taken against the trader after verifying the quantity of stocked pulses,” said an official.

Meanwhile, the Khurdha district administration and civil supplies department have conducted searches at the premises of Jai Balaji Agro Industries Ltd. in Khurdha industrial area for allegedly hoarding pulses.
