Odisha to get Gems & Jewellery Industrial Park

In another step towards establishing employment intensive industries in the State, Government has accorded in principle approval for establishment of a Gems & Jewellery Industrial Park at Ramdaspur of Cuttack district.

The provisional approval for establishment of the park was given in the State level committee meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi. Chief Secretary advised to establish such type of industries in the park which would create more employment opportunities for women and handicapped persons.

The proposed components in the Park included precious & semi precious diamond cutting, diamond polishing, designing of gold, silver, platinum & diamond jewelleries, manufacturing of the jewelleries, manufacturing of fashion jewelry, manufacturing of life style products, retail centers and export houses.

The project envisaged a total investment of Rs.685 crore in 3 phases out of which the first phase investment would be around Rs.209 crore. The company proposed to bring in its associates and promoters like Asmi, Nakshatra, GILI, Sangini, Nirvana, Kairana, Valente, Viola to the park.

The project envisaged the employment potential of creating jobs for around 16000 people in 3 different phases out of which 4000 would be engaged in the first phase. The expenditure for development of infrastructure has been estimated at Rs.129.5 crore in 3 different phases including the common facility centers. The park will need 100 acres of land and 300 MW power. The water requirement is around 300 cum per day.

The committee decided to advise the project proponent to submit the Detail Project Report (DPR) within 6 months for consideration of final approval.
