Odisha wins ‘Krishi Karman Samman’ Again

For the second successive year, Odisha has won the ‘Krishi Karman Samman’ as the best performing state in overall agricultural production in the country. The state will receive an award of Rs 5 crore, a citation and a trophy from President Pranab Mukherjee.

Union Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh has written to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, intimating him about the state’s achievement. The CM has thanked the farmers of the state as well as the officials of Agriculture department for their hard work.

Odisha Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy, who has taken many steps to boost the agricultural production in he state, also deserves appreciation. However, it’s an irony that Odisha received the award despite a drop in production this year. The ‘Krishi Karman Samman’ is being given in various categories to motivate the states to raise production of foodgrains in respective segments.
