Opposition serves Privilege Motion against Odisha Minister

Bhubaneswar, Dec 7: Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Narasingha Mishra moved a privilege motion notice against Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh in Odisha assembly on Monday over the issue of illegal detention of students of Rama Devi Women’s University during Chief Minster’s visit last week.

Mishra alleged the minister of misleading the house over the issue in his statement. Speaker Nirajan Pujari said that a decision be taken over the motion given by Mishra.

Notably, during the visit of the Chief Minister to the university some students were reportedly detained by police last week. The Opposition parties have objected to the minister’s statement over the issue of detention of students.

Over the same issue, students have demonstrated in front the university blocking roads on Saturday demanding action. While, the BJP leaders submitted memorandum to the Odisha Human Rights Commission over the detention of students during the Chief Minister’s visit.
