Padmashri D Prakash Rao ‘s mortal remains were cremated with state honours in Cuttack on Thursday.
The social activist had passed away on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. He was 63.
Prakash Rao was admitted to hospital on December 25. He had tested positive for COVID19 and also for kidney-related ailment andpassed away at 4.15pm due to brain stroke.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
A tea-seller by profession, he provided free education to slum children.
Tributes poured in after the news of his death spread.
