Piyush Goyal: Centre plans to set up 8 Medical Colleges in Odisha

Union Minister of State for Coal, Power and New and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal, who addressed a press conference in Bhubaneswar today, revealed that the centre is planning to set up 8 new Medical colleges in Odisha.

Piyush Goyal said that 50 lakh families in Odisha are yet to get electricity connection. “We will ensure power supply to every village in the country. And, all areas of Odisha will get electricity within the next 18 months,” he said.

He also assured all support to Odisha as part of PM Modi’s special focus on the development of eastern region of the country. “Our goal is to supply power to all villages, to all agricultural land. We are planning special line for electric supply to all land that need irrigation,” he added.

The government will provide free healthcare to freedom fighters in Odisha through MCL and NTPC, he revealed. While talking about the coal block auction, Piyush Goyal said Odisha will earn over RRs 45,000 crore from the auction process.

Earlier yesterday, Piyush Goyal had attended the review meeting of Coal, Power and New & Renewable Energy Sector. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Odisha Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das and Energy Secretary Suresh Mohapatra were also present at the meeting. Mr. Goyal also had a darshan of Lord Jagannath in Puri last evening.

Later, Piyush Goyal had a meeting with Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik at the Secretariat. They discussed various issues related to Odisha’s interest in the areas of Coal and Energy.
