‘PK’ Protests reach Bhubaneswar, Cinema Halls Vandalised

Aamir Khan-starrer ‘PK’, which is being targeted by Hindu organisations across the country over the last 3/4 days, got its critics in Bhubaneswar, Odisha today. Several Bajrang Dal activists stormed into the cinema halls – Keshari and Sriya and ransacked the offices.

The Bajrang Dal workers shouted slogans, pulled down the posters and set them on fire. Their first target was Keshari Hall. They fled the spot before the police arrived and moved to Sriya Hall to repeat their vandalism.

They damaged the ticket counters by breaking the glass panes and tore down the posters. The Bajrang Dal workers looked provoked by the allegations of BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, who claimed that ‘PK’ was funded by Dubai-based gangsters and Pakistan-based ISI. The ABVP members also held demonstration against the movie outside Inox Theatre, but they did not resort to violence.

The Bajrang Dal workers vowed to continue with their protests against ‘PK’ and warned the theatre owners not to screen the movie, saying it hurts the religious sentiments of Hindus. However, the theatre owners sound unfazed by the incidents and demanded more security from the Commissionerate police.
