PM Modi lays foundation stone of City Gas Distribution Projects

ONI Bureau:  To mark the beginning of work for CNG supply to automobiles and piped cooking gas to kitchens, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday laid the Foundation Stones of City Gas Distribution (CGD) Projects in 65 Geographical Areas (GAs) in 129 Districts under the City Gas Expansion of 9th CGD Bidding Round at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi including seven GAs in Odisha.

The 7 GAs covering 17 districts in Odisha including Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Jajpur  Kendujhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Bargarh, Debagarh, Sambalpur, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Puri, Jagatsinghpur & Kendrapara.

The Prime Minister also launched 10th CGD Bidding Round in 50 areas spread over 124 districts in 14 states.

The 10th CGD Bidding Round will cover about 53% of India area and ensure access to clean fuels to 70% of India’s population.

Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Science & Technology were also remained present in the occasion.

Jual Oram, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs attended the programme at Rourkela GA level functions as the Chief Guest. Likewise, Ram Kripal Yadav, MoS for Rural Development attended the program as Chief Guest at Berhampur and Sudarshan Bhagat MoS for Tribal Affairs attended the event at Jajpur Road.
