PM Modi unveils Projects worth Rs 14,523 Crore for Odisha

ONI Bureau:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Campus of IIT- Bhubaneswar and unveiled other development projects worth Rs 14,523 crore in Bhubaneswar today.

PM Narendra Modi dedicated new 100-bed upgraded ward of ESIC Hospital in Bhubaneswar to people of Odisha.

He also released a postage stamp & a commemorative coin on the bicentenary of 1817 Paika Rebellion, announced establishment of Buxi Jagabandhu chair (research laboratory) in Utkal University & inaugurated archaeological museum at Lalitgiri through video-conferencing at IIT Bhubaneswar.

A corpus fund of Rs 5 crore will be provided by the Union Culture Ministry for the establishment of Buxi Jagabandhu Chair at Utkal University.

Also laid foundation stone of following Projects:

– Paradip-Hyderabad products pipeline (PHPL) of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL)

– Bokaro- Angul section of Jagdishpur- Haldia pipeline

– Bokaro-Dhamra pipeline project of GAIL India ltd

– Six laning of Chandikhole-Bhadrak section of NH-5 on Hybrid Annuity model

– Four-laning of Cuttack-Angul Section of NH- 42 on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) mode

– Six laning of of Bhubaneswar-Puintola section of NH-5 of 132.14 kilometers

While speaking at the event Modi said, “The grand campus in IIT Bhubaneswar will not only be a center of dreams for the youth of Odisha but will also provide employment opportunities”. He further stated that the Centre is committed to all-round development of Odisha.

“Our resolution to work for Odisha’s development with complete dedication, has now reached a decisive state. I have just unveiled and inaugurated projects worth over Rs 14,000 crore for the state. I am happy to dedicate IIT Bhubaneswar to the youth of the country. Rs 1,260 crore has been spent on this campus. It will become a dream centre for the youth of Odisha in future and also become a medium for their employment,” said PM Modi.

“The Centre is giving special attention to education as well as healthcare of people in Odisha. Expansion of the ESIC Hospital in Bhubaneswar is a step forward in this direction. It has all modern facilities. We will also set up 1,100 health and wellness centres in Odisha ,” he added.

The PM also talked about the slew of petroleum projects that are either going on or being launched for Odisha, saying the State would soon become the Petroleum Hub of the country. “We are committed to all-round development of Odisha whether infrastructure, education, new start ups, healthcare or employment. We have also ensured that Ujjwala Yojana reaches out to rural women and free them of smoke and poor living condition. Our work will continue,” the PM added.

Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan listed the achievement of Modi Govt. He thanked the PM and express happy and hope that the projects will be helpful for people of Odisha.

We believe that a prosperous East is necessary for making the dream of New India possible. Odisha will act as the gate way to fulfil this goal, said Modi. With the slew of projects being launched by the Petroleum Ministry, the State is now going to become the Petroleum Hub of India, Modi further stated.

PM Modi also hailed the Paika Rebellion of 1817 for playing a significant role in India’s first freedom struggle and acknowledged the efforts of Paika Warrior Baxi Jagabandhu. “We have released a commemorative stamp and coins to mark 200 years of this important event in India’s history,” he added.

Speaking at the occasion, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik assured free land and all other assistance for the Paika Memorial in Barunei, Khordha.
