Pratibha Ray named Chairperson of Bharatiya Jnanpith Selection Board

ONI Bureau:   Pratibha Ray, who won prestigious Jnanpith Award in 2011, is being assumed as the New Chairperson of Bharatiya Jnanpith Selection Board.

Pratibha Ray who was the first Odia woman and fourth Odia writer to get the Jnanpith Award, known for her fight against caste and religious discrimination.

Born in Balikuda of Jagatsinghpur district, she was the first woman to win the Moortidevi Award in 1991.

Besides, her other literary works including ‘Barsa Basanta Baishakha’, ‘Aranya’, ‘Nishidha Prithivi’, ‘Parichaya, ‘Aparichita, ‘Punyatoya’, ‘Meghamedura’, ‘Ashabari’, ‘Ayamarambha’, ‘Nilatrishna’, ‘Samudrara Swara’, ‘Shilapadma’, ‘Dehatit’ , ‘Uttaramarg’, ‘Adibhumi ‘, ‘Mahamoha’ and ‘Magnamati’.
