The Odisha Government transferred Puri SP Akhileshwar Singh late on Friday evening over the alleged custodial death case. Singh has been transferred to the SP headquarters. Sambalpur SP Kanwar Vishal Singh has replaced him as Puri SP.

Meanwhile, both the BJP and the Congress party raked up the issue during the ongoing winter session of the Odisha Assembly.
BJP moved an adjournment motion over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. He demanded ruling of the Speaker on the matter.
Congress also highlighted the issue and demanded exemplary action against the Puri SP, who has now been transferred.
