Puri Railway Station arson: Court sends main accused to Judicial Custody

Bhubaneswar, Nov 23: The main accused in arson at Puri Railway Station was sent to judicial custody on Monday after completion of 6-day remand.

Main accused, Ramachandran Subhash was arrested by Railway police in connection with arson at railway station in Puri on November 12. Since his arrest railway officials have been interrogating him over the fire incident in three trains. After his arrest he was taken on remand for six days, which ended today, he was sent to judicial custody.

Hearing the case on Saturday, the Puri Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court allowed the officials to conduct polygraph test on the main accused, who was changing his statement frequently as officials reported to the court. They requested the court need for a polygraph test of the main accused, considering their appeal, the court granted to conduct the tests.

Notably, fire broke out from three stationed trains at Puri Railway Station on November 12. The officials said that the incident was resulted by the main accused, who said to be set three stationed trains on fire. The three trains Puri-New Delhi Nandan Kanan Express,Puri-Tirupati Express and were Puri-Howrah Express station when fire engulfed.
