Ranji Trophy: Odisha beat Punjab by 6 Wickets

Odisha finally registered a thumping victory over Punjab in the Ranji Trophy match in Mohali, which help them prevent a degradation to the plate division. The victory came as a big relief for Odisha, which had suffered humiliating loss against Delhi and Rajasthan. They had slumped to an innings defeat against Delhi, while lost the match against Rajasthan by 10 wickets.

Earlier, Rajasthan bowled out for 141 in the second innings, setting a target of 126 for Odisha. Yuvraj Singh (56) and Gurkeerat Singh Mann (43) were the top scorers. Basant Mohanty, who had taken 4 wickets in the first innings, completed a perfect ten by claiming six wickets in the second innings.

Deepak Behera, who took four wickets in the first innings, added three more to the second innings. Chasing a victory target of 126, Odisha reached 127/4 to win the match by six wickets. Govind Podder remained unbeaten on 60, while Paresh Patel scored 29. Basant Mohanty was declared ‘Man of the Match’.
