Rape Video: Odisha Builder Kalia’s Remand extended by 7 Days

A Delhi court has extended the CBI remand of Bhubaneswar-based builder Subrat Sahu alias ‘Kalia’ by seven days after his one-day remand expired on March 26. CBI will continue with its investigation in connection with the circulation of rape video, which was filmed by Subrat Sahu in 2010, but circulated on WhatsApp and other social media sites in recent months.

Sahu was arrested from Bhubaneswar in Odisha on Monday by the CBI. The CBI had sought 10-day remand, but the court granted seven days to complete all procedures. The CBI is working on finding out the place and time of rape that took place in Bhubaneswar.

Subrat Sahu alias ‘Kalia’ has been running a construction company and real estate business in Odisha. His office is located in VSS Nagar area of Bhubaneswar. He was arrested after the Supreme Court took suo motu note of a letter of Hyderabad-based NGO Prajwala on the posting of two rape videos on WhatsApp and ordered a CBI probe into the incidents.

The rape videos of unidentified girls, were uploaded on social networking sites, including WhatsApp, by unknown people.
