ONI Bureau: While the permutations and combinations are still on to choose 3 Rajya Sabha candidates in Odisha in March-April 2018, prominent BJD leader and Minister Pradeep Maharathy joined the debate with his willingness to go to the Upper House.
It’s not confirmed whether Maharathy is really serious about it or just responded to journalist humourosly, but he said given a chance, he is not averse to go to Rajya Sabha, giving enough fodder to media to speculate.
The Rajya Sabha term of 3 MPs from Odisha – AV Swamy, Dilip Tirkey and AU Singhdeo will come to end in April 2018. So, biennial polls are likely in March 2018. It would be interesting to see whether ruling BJD retains all 3 seats or not.
