Renjda Railway Siding: Indian Bureau of Mines Team finds hidden iron ore

Bhubaneswar, Dec 21: The team of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) in its reports revealed that iron ore has been found hidden near Renjda railway siding in Koida mining circle in Sundergarh district. The team had visited the area to investigate into the illegal stacking of minerals in the areas.

Notably, the issue of illegal stacking of minerals was raised by Union Tribal Affairs Minister and Sundergarh MP Jual Oram. On October 8, Oram shot off a letter to union Mines Minister Narendra Singh Tomar to ask for a probe into the alleged illegal mining in Sundergarh district. In the letter, Oram said a huge stock of minerals worth about Rs.100 crore was found near the Renjda railway siding in the Koida mines area.

Following directive from the ministry of mines, the IBM officials team visited the Koida mining circle on October 16.

The report of the IBM revealed illegal stacking of minerals in Koida mining circle. Following the report of IBM about the illegal stacking, Union Minister Jual Oram has urged Odisha government to take proper action.
