Rich Tribute paid to Late Nandini Satpathy on 9th Nandini Diwas

Bhubaneswar (9 June 2016): Meetings were held at several places across Odisha to commemorate National Daughters’ Day – Nandini Diwas – the 85th birth anniversary of legendary Late Smt. Nandini Satpathy. It was celebrated by a number of organizations at several places at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Barhampur, Dhenkanal, Baripada, Sambalpur, Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Puducherry etc.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik unveiled a statue of Late Smt. Nandini Satpathy near the Raj Bhawan of Bhubaneswar. A number of dignitaries were present on this inaugural function.

Addressing a meeting which was organized by Smt. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT) its Chairman Shri. Suparno Satpathy said, “ Nandini Devi’s work  for Odisha and for India needs better documentation. Her huge contributions till date remains understated. I disagree with CM Naveen Patnaik on many fronts but this gesture of his to recognize Nandini Ji with installing a statue of her’s is much appreciated by me”.

“Nandini Devi was an institute by herself and thus she belongs to everyone. I thank each and every organization be it Government or Private who have come out in support of Legendary late Smt. Nandini Satpathy and who organized events on mark Nandini Ji’s  85th birth anniversary”, he added.

It is to be noted that 9 June was marked as National Daughters Day – Nandini Diwas on 9th June, 2007 by then Governor of Odisha Late Shri. Rameshwar Thakur and was supported by the then Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh.
