Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray quits BJP; resigns from Assembly

ONI Bureau: Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray has resigned from the primary membership of the BJP. He also met Speaker Pradip Amat and tendered his resignation from the Odisha Assembly. He also confirmed that he is not interested in contesting polls in 2019 from Rourkela as he things he has failed to fulfill the promises made to people.

“It is with deep anguish that I have decided to quit as the Member of State Legislative Assembly as well as from the Membership of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The decision to quit is emotionally too painful and difficult for me but I do think that this, at present, is best suited to the interests of Rourkela. I hope my constituents will understand the unavoidable circumstances that rendered it necessary for me to take this difficult decision,” he said.

Dilip Ray, who had aired his voice several times in the past over alleged central negligence for construction of a second bridge on the Brahmani River and upgradation of Ispat General Hospital (IGH) into Super Specialty Hospital in Rourkela, had claimed a few days ago that he was humiliated in the party. However, the claim.was rejected by BJP.
