ONI Bureau: The headmistress of a state-run residential school in Daringbadi area of Kandhamal district was suspended by the district Collector, where a class-VIII girl student delivered a baby in the hostel premises on Saturday night. Reportedly, the newborn baby died while undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
The Kandhamal Collector wrote a letter to Odisha Government recommending action against headmistress who had driven out the girl with the newborn baby from the school to suppress the incident.
As per the reports, the 14-year-old girl student was raped 8 months back at her village. However, she had remained silent out of fear and shame.
Meanwhile, Odisha SC and ST Minister Ramesh Majhi has ordered a probe into the incident.
