The Association also organized a talk on ‘role of journalist in present scenario’ on the occasion. Addressing on the talk, Chief Guest Baijayanta Panda said due to revolutionary change and expansion in media now it would be quite impossible to suppress news.
The Lok Sabha MP further said due to technological development in media any man can be a publisher from his home. Giving a statistics said in India 60 crore people get news from Television, 28 crore go through the print media, 8 crore people listen radio and 5 crore people get instant news from internet.
Speaking on the occasion as Guest of Honour and Chief Speaker senior journalist Rabi Das and former Minister Panchanan Kanungo respectively elaborated various aspects of journalism.
Earlier Union minister Jual Oram and Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray inaugurated the occasion. While Biranchi Pattnaik presided over the meeting, Sibaram Patra read out the key note address and Kunja Behari Raout managed the stage. Five persons for their benevolent services in different fields were felicitated by the guests.
A Souvenir of the Association was also released.
