Security tightened for Maoists’ ‘Sahid Divas’ in South Odisha

Security has been tightened across Koraput, Rayagada and Malkangiri districts as Maoists are observing the Martyrs’ Week or Sahid Divas. It will begin today and will last till August 3.

Posters and banners can be seen at various places, which were put up by the red rebels on account of the Martyrs’ Week.

Meanwhile, the State Government has suspended the bus services on various routes to prevent any untoward incident.  All OSRTC buses from Rayagada to interior areas of Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri districts will stay off the roads.

Security personnel have been deployed and check posts have been set up at various entry points into the district and the vehicles entering Koraput are also being checked by the cops.
