State Election Commission gears up to organise Free & Fair Panchayat Polls

The State Election Commission (SEC) has recommended the Home Department to take preventive measures to avoid any possible law and order situation across the State during the three-tire Panchayat Polls beginning on February 13.

Speaking on the arrangement for upcoming Panchayat Polls, SEC Secretary Rabindranath Sahoo said while polls are being conducted for 92,032 wards, 8,491 polling booths have been marked as highly sensitive while 18,931 booths have been declared as sensitive ones.

CCTV and videography arrangements will be made at sensitive and highly sensitive booths, the Secretary added.

In this regard, the State Government also directed all Collectors, District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police to remain alert and and maintain law and order in their respective areas.
