Subsidy disbursement to Drought-hit Farmers begins in Odisha

Insight Bureau:  The disbursement of agriculture input subsidy for farmers whose crops were affected by drought has begun in the State.

The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has written later to the concerned district collectors to complete the process within seven days.

The farmers will get drought assistance package of Rs 6,800 per hectare of land and the subsidy amount will be credited to farmer’s bank account within 7 days.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that the agriculture input subsidy will be provided to small and marginal farmers who have sustained crop loss of 33 per cent and above. Patnaik also announced to provide 50 days of additional work under MGNREGA in drought-affected areas.

Reportedly, over 3.15 lakh hectares in 70 blocks of 15 districts have been affected by drought in Odisha.
