SUM Hospital de-empanelled from RSBY, removed from CMRF Scheme

In a major development, the Government of Odisha on Friday removed SUM Hospital from its list of Empanelled Hospitals under Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY), a Central Government insurance scheme for the below poverty line (BPL) families, after the recent fire mishap that claimed at least 25 lives as of now.

RSBY is a Health Insurance Scheme for the Below Poverty Line families with the objectives to reduce Out of Pocket (OOP) expenditure on health and increase access to health care.

The Odisha government also removed the Hospital from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

SUM Hospital fire death toll rises to 25 today as three more persons succumbed to their injuries at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, one died at AMRI hospital and one died at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

As many as four persons including the founder of the SUM Hospital Manoj Nayak were arrested in this connection.
