ONI Bureau:The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed Odisha Government to complete the process and fix a date for Lokayukta appointment.
The Apex court rejected Odisha Govt’s plea to allow another 3-month time period for constitution of Lokpal. Meantime, the court directed the State Chief Secretary to fix a date for implementation of the same.
Earlier on July this year, the Supreme Court in a directive had asked the Chief Secretary to submit a status report on implementation of the Act before July 10.
While, Tamil Nadu Govt told to SC, Lokayukta will function in the State by February 1, 2019 West Bengal govt said Lokayukta will function from January 1, 2019. Meantime, Telangana assured to the court that Lokayukta will be appointed in 3 months after the new govt is sworn in.
