Traffic Volunteer Service to be launched in 4 cities of Odisha soon

ONI Bureau:  To assist traffic personnel in view of the rising number of road accidents across the State, the Odisha Government on Wednesday decided to launch Traffic Volunteer Service in 4 cities.

At a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, this was decided that the Student Traffic Volunteers will be appointed in Rourkela, Berhampur, Sambalpur and Balasore and will be extended to other cities in a phased manner.

The concerned department have also been asked to complete the repair of roads in many parts of Odisha by March 5.

Earlier, Student Traffic Volunteer scheme was implemented by the Odisha government for needy students to earn some quick bucks by working for the traffic police part-time.

Earlier it was decided that, student will be paid Rs 100 daily for assisting the police personnel in regulating traffic for three hours and earn up to Rs 3,000 per month if they work as traffic volunteers for three hours a day.
