Veteran Journalist Ratnakar Beura dies at 75

ONI Bureau: Veteran Journalist Ratnakar Beura, who worked with Dr. Radhanath Rath and was associated with ‘The Samaja’ for over 30 years, died at the age of 75.

Shri Beura breathed his last yesterday at Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar. Two years ago, he had celebrated his 50th Wedding Anniversary. He is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.

Athgarh MLA Raja Swain rushed to Bhubaneswar and personally brought Beura’s mortal remains to Athgarh. After a procession across the town, Beura was consigned to flames in the late afternoon.

Ratnakar Beura, who studied at Gopbandhu Science College, Athgarh, was the first Student Union President of the College. He was also the Founder-Secretary of Gopabandhu Women’s College, Athgarh. He served as the Vice President of Utkal Sambadika Sangha & President of Samaja Pratinidhi Sangha.
