Vigilance Sleuths raid Govt Hospitals, 11 Doctors absent

Bhubaneswar, Sep 9: The Vigilance sleuths conducted surprise raids on various government hospitals in six districts on Wednesday. During the raid, 11 doctors were found absent from their duties.

According to reports, the surprise raids were conducted at various Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) in Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Deogarh and Sonepur districts. The vigilance team found 11 doctors were ‘illegally’ absent at these hospitals. They asked district collectors of concerned districts to take legal action against the absent doctors.

It is noteworthy that, on August 5, 2015, the Odisha government on Wednesday issued notice to 448 absentee doctors, threatening to take action against them for leaving their place of duty without authorisation for a long period. Unable to locate as many as 613 absentee doctors across the state, the Odisha government on June 1, 2015 had served notices to them for leaving their place of duty without authorisation for a long period.
