Winter Session: Ruckus in Odisha Assembly over Farmers’ Suicide

Bhubaneswar, Dec 1: The winter session of Odisha Assembly has begun on Tuesday at 11 am and lasted for fifteen minutes after that the house was adjourned till 3 pm by the speaker.

Opposition parties, Congress and BJP created ruckus over farmers’ suicide issue demanding discussion on motion cancelling other proceeding of the house for the day.

Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra urged the speaker for a discussion on motion over the farmers’ suicide in the house. In a written motion to the speaker, Mishra has urged to cancel the Question Hour and other proceedings of the house and initiate discussion over farmers’s suicide issues and drought situation.

In response over written motion by Mishra, Speaker, Niranjan Pujari said that he is examining the motion. As the speaker started the Question Hour, all opposition legislators rushed to the well of the house demanding discussion on the issue. The members were holding banners, posters and Laddus. Following the ruckus in the house, the speaker adjourned the house till 3 pm.
