World Environment Day celebrated at Paradip Refinery

Paradip, June 06: Tree plantations and Events for employees, housewives, children were organized on the theme of World Environment Day 2015 : Seven Billion Dreams – One Planet – Consume with Care, at Paradip Refinery. The community tree plantation drive was inaugurated by Mr. Ramjee Ram, Executive Director-I/C, PDRP in the presence of Mr. G. S. Singh, Executive Director(Tech), PDRPians, Sarpanchs, Representatives of nearby schools and guests at Paradip Refinery township on 5^th June 2015. Tree saplings were presented by ED-I/C & ED(T) to Sarpanchs of nearby Panchayats, students of nearby schools and township residents.

Various events, competitions and activities were organized to mark the occasion, starting from 3^rd June 2015, to spread awareness on preservation of Environment. Elocution, Quiz, Fancy Dress competitions for children from IOCL and CISF, Quiz for housewives and employees were organized.

Paradip Refinery Project has adopted of modern technologies for Flue gas desulphurisation, low NOx burners for reduction of emissions, modern effluent treatment plant with reverse osmosis plant for maximum water reuse, development of green belts with more than 7 lac trees to act as green house gases sinks. Paradip Refinery has adopted all latest energy conservation and environment protection initiatives like hospital bio-medical waste management, installation of solar lights, installation of 1000 kg/day kitchen waste based Bio-Gas plant, waste segregation into Biodegradable and Non-Biodegradable, eliminating use of plastic bags, etc. PDRP is committed towards conservation of Environment in all its activities.
