Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on Friday, announced Rudra Pratap Maharathy as the BJD candidate for Pipili bypoll. Rudra Pratap is the son of former BJD legislator late Pradeep Maharathy.
The announcement comes a day after BJP announced Ashrit Pattanayak as their candidate.
For the BJD, both wife Prativa and son Rudra of late Pradeep Maharathy were in the race for getting the ticket.
Meanwhile, the Congress has sent three names to the high command – Ajit Mangaraj, Purna Chandra Swain and Nishikant Mishra.
Bypoll was necessitated after the demise of sitting MLA Pradeep Maharathy on October 4 last year.
