India beat Australia, qualify for Semifinals of T20 World Cup

With a comprehensive six-wicket victory over Australia, India qualified for the semifinals of ICC T20 World Cup. They will take on the West Indies in the semifinals in Mumbai on 31st March. Virat Kohli singlehandedly took the game away from the Aussies.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. The openers started on an aggressive note by scoring 54 runs in 4.2 overs. The Indian bowlers did well to contain the Kangaroos at 160/6 in 20 overs. Finch was the top scorer at 43. Khawaja (26) and Maxwell (31) were the other contributors. For India, Pandya took two wickets.

In reply, India started on a shaky note by losing three wickets – Dhawan, Rohit and Raina for just 49 runs. At one stage, India were 68/1 in 11 overs and stared at defeat. But, Kohli and Yuvraj consolidated the innings. After Yuvraj’s departure at 21, Dhoni joined Virat.

Virat remained unbeaten on 82 off 51 balls with 9 boundaries and 2 sixes, while Dhoni remained not out on 18. India reached 161/4 in 19.1 overs. Shane Watson took two wickets. Virat Kohli was declared ‘Man of the Match’. India skipper MS Dhoni, Australian skipper Steven Smith, Indian PM Narendra Modi nd many others gave full credit to Kohli for this remarkable victory.
