Australia win Brisbane Test, take 2-0 lead in Series

Australia registered a comfortable victory over depleted Team India in the second Test match in Brisbane to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match Test series. India had gone down fighting in Adelaide. And, in Brisbane, they did not have enough runs on board to put pressure on Australia in the fourth innings.

Earlier, India bowled out for 224 in the second innings despite being in a comfortable position at 76/1. Only Shikhar Dhawan (81) and Pujara (43) showed some resistance. Vijay (27) and Umesh Yadav (30) were the other contributors. Kohli scored just one, while Dhoni and Rahane were out for a duck. For Australia, Johnson took four wickets, while Hazlewood, Starc and Lyon took two wickets each.

Chasing a victory target of 128, Australia were cruising towards their goal, but lost six quick wickets in the process. Finally, they reached 130/6 and won the Test by 4 wickets. Chris Rogers scored 55. For India, Ishant Sharma took three wickets, while Umesh Yadav took two wickets. Skipper Steven Smith was declared ‘Man of the Match’ on his captaincy debut.
