HWC 2018: Germany beat Netherlands; Malaysia hold Pakistan to Draw

ONI Bureau: In the Pool D matches of the Hockey World Cup 2018 on Wednesday, Germany trounced the Netherlands 4-1 while Malaysia held Pakistan to a 1-1 draw. Both Pakistan and Malaysia would find it almost impossible to move to the quarterfinals from here on.

In the first match, Mathias Muller (30th), Lukas Windfeder (52nd), Marco Miltkau (54th) and Christopher Ruhar (58th) scored the goals for Germany. Mirco Pruijser scored the lone goal for the Netherlands in the 13th minute. Florian Fuchs of Germany was declared ‘Player of the Match’.

In the second match between Pakistan and Malaysia that ended in a draw, both goals were scored in the last 10 minutes. Muhammad Atiq scored the first goal of the match in the 51st minute. And, Faizal Saari of Malaysia scored the equalizer in the 55th minute. Faizal was declared ‘Player of the Match’.
