India thrash West Indies by 9 wickets in 5th ODI; win Series 3-1

ONI Bureau: Team India defeated the West Indies by 9 wickets in the 5th and final ODI in Thiruvananthapuram to win the series 3-1. Chasing a modest total of 105, India finished the match in less than 15 overs.

Earlier, West Indies won the toss and elected to bat. The Indian bowlers kept a tight control over the Indies batsmen and restricted them at 104 in 31.5 overs. Marlon Samuels (24) and Jason Holder (25) were the top scorers. Ravindra Jadeja took 4 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Khaleel Ahmed took 2 wickets each.

Although Shikhar Dhawan departed early, Rohit Sharma (63*) and Virat Kohli (33*) helped India reach 105/1 in 14.5 overs. Ravindra Jadeja was declared ‘Player of the Match’, while Virat Kohli was adjudged ‘Player of the Series’.
