India soon to open High Commission in Rwanda: Hamid Ansari

The Vice President of India Hamid Ansari has assured the  Indian diasporas in Rwanda that the Government of India will soon open a High Commission in that country,  while addressing the Indian community in Kigali, capital city of Rwanda on Sunday.

The Vice President stated that the move will further enhance the bilateral ties which are characterized by historical cultural linkages, extensive economic and trade interest and a convergence on major bilateral and international issues with the East African nation as both the countries are good friends.

Ansari further said, India will also start a direct flight between the two countries.

Ansari is on a five-day visit to Rwanda and Uganda. He is accompanied by his wife Salma Ansari, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Vijay Sampla, MPs Kanimozhi, Ranvijay Singh, Ranee Narah and PK Biju and other senior officials.

Around 3000 people belonging to the Indian community reside in Rwanda, but there is no resident mission in Kigali yet.
