Lahore Suicide Attack: Death toll rises to 14

The death toll in the Lahore suicide attack has reached to 14, including six police officers.  On Monday, a Taliban suicide bomber blew himself up during a protest rally outside Pakistan’s Punjab Assembly at rush hour on Mall Road in Lahore that took lives of people and left more than 70 persons injured. The conditions of the injured people are still very critical.

The police officials have arrested the suspected facilitator of the blast. While talking to the media persons, Punjab Police spokesman Niyab Haider said, “police have taken more than 50 suspects including some Afghans into custody suspecting to be in connection with the blasts and they are being interrogated.”

The Home Department has directed law enforcement agencies to ensure extreme vigilance and Security has been beefed up in the area.

A Joint Investigation Team has been formed by the government headed by Crime Investigation Department’s Senior Superintendent of Police Muhammad Iqbal to probe the matter.
