BSE Sensex gained 400 points led by shares of banking, pharma, capital goods, consumer durables and energy companies on Friday. Nifty gained 120 points.
At 2 p.m. the Sensex was trading 412 points (1.50%) higher at 27,920.08 points and Nifty zoomed 115 points (1.40%) at 8,399.70 points. Both markets gained more than 1% during trading session.
In the sectoral indices, Bankex, capital goods and consumers durables gained 1.5% at Bombay Stock Exchange.
While other indices, BSE 100 gained 1.40%, Mid Cap (1.34%), Small Cap (1.30%) and BSE 200 (1.37%).
The top gainer at BSE was PIPAVAV Defence and Offshore Eng LTD (PIPAVAV) gained 15.68%, followed by Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd (GPPL) with 14.62% up in the scrip value. Other gainers were BERGEPAINT (11.97%), BAYERCROP (8.56%) and PERSISTENT (8.38%). Losers were PMCFIN lost 4.96%, PRESTIGE (4.88%), RASoYPR (4.88%) MUthothfin(3.76%) and Kailash (1.97%).
At NSE, out of 50 shares, 46 stocks advanced while 6 declined. Gainers were Jindalstel (4.41%), HDFC (3.91%), ASIANPAINT (3.58%), BHEL(3.05%) and TataMotors(2.97%). Losers were BPCL (1.08%), M&M (0.55%), NMDC (0.37%), HeroMotorco(0.27%) and Bajaj-Auto (0.26%).
