BSE Sensex sheds 137 points; Healthcare Stocks down

BSE Sensex InvestmentMumbai, April 27: A benchmark index of the Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip BSE Sensex, was trading 137.31 points or 0.50 percent down during afternoon session on Monday. The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also trading 48.95 points or 0.59 percent down at 8,256.30 points.

The BSE Sensex, which opened at 27,565.49 points, was trading at 27,300.63 points (at 1.20 p.m.), down 137.31 points or 0.50 percent from the previous day’s close at 27,437.94 points. The BSE Sensex has touched a high of 27,567.28 points and a low of 27,210.10 points in the intra-day trade so far.

Heavy selling pressure was seen in healthcare, consumer durables and oil and gas sectors. The BSE S&P healthcare index plummeted by 371.36 points, consumer durables index dropped by 200.74 points and oil and gas index fell by 153.21 points. (IANS)
