House Committee on Submissions visits Dhamra Port

House-Committee-DhamraA 14-member House Committee on Submissions of the Odisha Assembly came on a 2-day visit to Dhamra Port on Wednesday and Thursday. The Committee was led by Chairman Sri Pravat Ranjan Biswal, Hon’ble MLA Cuttack Sadar and two MLAs of Bhadrak district, namely Sri Byomkesh Ray, Hon’ble MLA Chandbali and Sri Muktikanta Mandal, Hon’ble MLA Dhamnagar were among the members.

After holding a review meeting on various developmental projects of Bhadrak district at the Bhadrak circuit house, the Committee arrived at Dhamra Port on Wednesday evening and reviewed the local recruitment process and CSR activities undertaken by Dhamra Port. Director of DPCL Sri Santosh Kumar Mohapatra gave a presentation to the Committee on the progress of Dhamra Port and various periphery development activities done by the port for the local communities.

Dhamra-Port-MembersOn Thursday morning, the House Committee visited Maa Dhamrai Temple and suggested the local MLAs and DPCL to take up certain beautification work in and around the temple. During the visit to Dhamra Fishing Harbour, the Committee chairman inquired about certain irregularities alleged in the management of accounts of the Fisherman Management Society and asked the Fisheries department officials to produce necessary documents for verification.

Before leaving for Basudevpur and Nilagiri, the House Committee also visited Dhamra Port to see the port operations and mechanized cargo handling facilities.
