MoU for Swachha Vidyalay Abhiyan signed

Swachha Vidyalay Abhiyan Under SAIL’s Corporate Social Responsibility projects, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sulabh International Social Service Organisation (SISSO) over Swachha Vidyalay Abhiyan in Rourkela.

Under the Swachha Vidyalay Abhiya project, SISSO will construct toilets in schools with total outlay of Rs 9 crores.

Expressing happiness over the signing of the MOU, CEO G.S.Prasad said that this is yet another significant step by SAIL for achieving the gigantic task begun by the Prime Minister of India. He laid emphasis on sensitizing the beneficiaries regarding the need for, and the importance of, hygiene and cleanliness

It may be pertinent to mention here that the Swachha Vidyalay Abhiyan is a part of the ‘Swachha Bharat Abhiyan’ started by the Prime Minister of India. The programme has been initiated under the SAIL’s Corporate Social Responsibility projects and under this, the target for RSP is to construction of 355 toilets in 239 schools in peripheral villages in the Bisra and Nuagaon Blocks and in Rourkela Municipal Corporation area. SISSO which is a specialist social organization in the field of public toilet facilities in the country will execute the project.

Under the project, SISSO will construct the toilets, impart sensitization to the villagers and the students about hygiene and cleanliness. Each toilet block would comprise an IWC and a urinal with suitable water supply. Separate toilets will be constructed for girls wherever needed. A leach pit will be provided for disposal of the waste. Manure would be a useful by-product.
