Pawan Hans declares Rs. 7.76 crores dividend

Pawan Hans LtdNew Delhi, Jan 21: The Minister for Civil Aviation Shri P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju received a cheque of Rs.3,95,84,735/- from Dr. B.P. Sharma, Chief Managing Director, Pawan Hans Ltd, as dividend for the year 2014-15. Shri R.N. Choubey, Secretary, Civil Aviation and other senior officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Pawan Hans were also present on the occasion. Pawan Hans has declared a dividend of Rs. 7.76 crores for the financial year 2014-15. A cheque of Rs. 3, 80, 15,265 has also been paid to ONGC as being 49% shareholder of PHL.

Pawan Hans has been making profit since 1992 and has paid Rs. 223.69 crores dividend as on 2014-15. For the financial year 2014-15 PHL’s operating revenue increased to Rs.538.15 crores (Rs.529.57 crores in the previous year). The net operating profit for 2014-15 is Rs.79.13 crores against Rs.73.03 crores in the year 2013-14. This year the company has managed to turn around with net profit after tax of Rs.38.81 crores against Rs.38.57 crores during previous year and has declared dividend @ 20% of the net profit after tax (i.e. Rs.38.81 crores) to Govt. of India and ONGC. In the paid up share capital of the Company of Rs.245.62 crores, the President of India through Ministry of Civil Aviation holds Rs.125.266 crores( 51%) and ONGC holds. Rs.120.35 crores (49%).

Pawan Hans is a Mini Ratna-I category PSU and is India’s largest helicopter operator as also one of the Asia’s biggest operators. It has achieved flying of more than 7 lakhs hours and 25 lakhs landings on its fleet since its formation. Pawan Hans has its own fleet of 43 helicopters, comprising of 17 Dauphin N, 15 Dauphin N3, 3 MI-172, 3 Bell 206 L4, 3 Bell 407 and 2 AS 350 B3 helicopters. It also operates and maintains 6 Dhruv helicopters belonging to BSF and HAL. The operating and maintenance standards of Pawan Hans are one of the highest in the world. Rating of the Company has also been upgraded with stable India A+ from Stable India A. This has been possible with better financial performance.

Pawan Hans provides helicopter support with 10 helicopters for offshore operation of ONGC. The Company provides helicopter services to State Governments of Meghalaya, Mizoram, Maharashtra, Tripura, Assam, Sikkim, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Ministry of Home Affairs, Administration of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep Islands. The Company is also providing helicopter services to PSU’s like NTPC, Oil India Limited, GAIL, GSPC, etc. Pawan Hans runs the helicopter services from Phata to the Holy Shrine of Kedarnathji during the May-June and September-October seasons every year. Pawan Hans has also been promoting Heli-Tourism in other parts of the country such as Shri Amarnath Shrine in J&K etc.

PHL is now diversifying into high potential sectors of Heliports/Helipads, Seaplane operation, small Fixed Wing aircraft and MRO. The visionary new Draft Civil Aviation Policy aims at giving a thrust to helicopter sector seeing its great potential in regional connectivity and general aviation. PHL is also targeting specific project segments and industries where it believes there is a high potential for growth and diversification efforts have yielded encouraging results.

Pawan Hans has prepared Strategic Business Plan 2020 which envisages industry trends, future challenges and growth opportunities of General Aviation sector in India particularly helicopters, Seaplanes, Small Fixed Wing Aircraft and development of Heliports. Fleet acquisition under options of leasing and procurement routes through which 20 new helicopters in various categories like light, medium and heavy and 2 seaplanes will be procured

Prospects for IPO are reviewed with SBICap and work plan for the same is being prepared with a time bound manner.

Construction of Rohini Heliport is in full swing. Independent internal committee has been constituted for monitoring Heliport progress. PDC for completion is 16th Feb 2016 as per contract agreement and operationalization is 30th June 2016. Efforts are being made to complete the project within stipulated time frame. Pawan Hans intends to manage and operate to develop more such Heliports to promote Regional Connectivity in various parts of the country Under Heli-Hub concept through Viability Gap Funding model with State and Central Government.

Pawan Hans plans to venture into MRO business. To start with the MRO facility is being planned to be established at Rohini at Delhi and Juhu at Mumbai through PPP model/ develop, manage and operate revenue based model.

New safety department structure has been put in place for close monitoring and implementation of Safety Management System, Flight Data Monitoring System, Pilot training etc., to ensure accident/incident free flying.
