Tata Motors Sales up 10% in December

Tata MotorsTata Motors, India’s largest automobile company, recorded 10 per cent growth in car sales including the exports in December 2014. The company sold 41,734 cars including commercial and passenger vehicles, comparing 37, 836 cars sold in last year.

Tata Motors registered 8 per cent growth in the domestic sales in December 2014. However, cumulative sales including exports declined by 17 per cent, as in the current fiscal the company sold 362,995 cars, comparing to 435079 cars sold last year, a statement said.

While market continues to remain challenged by macroeconomic trends, segments such as M&HCV showed a 62% growth year-on-year. Other segments such as Passenger Cars continue to show positive growth of 52% and Exports have grown in December 2014 by 40%, over last year.

In the passenger vehicles segment, in December 2014, Tata Motors passenger vehicles recorded sales of 12,040 cars, a growth of 30 per cent, compared to 9,272 cars sold in last year.

Tata Motors registered 11 per down in sales of passenger cars in the domestic market in the current fiscal.In the commercial vehicles segment, the company sold 232142 cars in the current fiscal, declined by 21 per cent.

Tata Motors exported 3,958 cars in December 2014, grew by 40 per cent compared to 2826 cars exported in December 2013. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at 36,626 cars, grew marginally by 1%, over last year.
