Can BJP win Odisha with Conclaves and AC Room Meetings?

Whether Intellectuals’ Meet or Odisha Vikash Conclave, will these events help Odisha BJP to penetrate into rural areas in the state and counter the strong organisational strength of BJD and Congress? Do BJP leaders understand the ground reality?

Sambit Nanda: These conclaves don’t bear any meaning to rural mass. They want results. You run into any village of the state and ask any of the villagers about the conclave, I bet, 99 % of them don’t even have an idea about it. So to counter BJD and Congress at the ground level, BJP needs to bring the strong rebels of both parties into its fold. Schemes like Ujwalla Yojana may also help to attract direct voters.

Devi Prasad Misra: Such events will not in any way help BJP to boost their vote bank. For that, the party cadres have to work in the rural areas to improve the health care, literacy, sanitation by involving themselves. They have to generate funds either through the party or on their own.

Charulata Panigrahi: Odisha BJP should follow the footsteps of Modi Ji, which he applied for the last general election. He finished the bastion of the mighty Congress, which had been ruling the country since independence.

Akshay Rout: Discussions inside AC rooms of five star hotel of capital city of no use as far as poverty alleviation and enforcement of policies in rural areas and remote villages are concerned. BJP Odisha must focus on grey areas and find the reasons of their electoral failure and take steps to reach out to the common people. The Vikash Conclave will neither boost the BJP’s prospects nor help rural Odisha.

Gyanranjan Samal: These events are only for activists, NGOs, Journalists or Intellectuals living in the cities. It helps only the Event Managers & Firms organizing the events. These events do no common goods, never yield desired results in rural areas. Only RSS has strategy, strength & ability to penetrate into rural areas to make BJP a people’s organisation.

Hemanta Pande: Intellectuals’ Meet or Odisha Vikash Conclave will help to draw a political synthesis among the top leaders of BJP, but the saffron party needs to address the basic problems of rural people that include health service, drinking water, road communication, sanitation etc. to strengthen its organization at grass root level across the state.
