Ajay Maken quits after Congress Rout in Delhi

Ajay MakenCongress’ chief ministerial aspirant Ajay Maken Tuesday resigned as the party’s general secretary after it suffered a rout in the Delhi assembly election. Maken and all other 69 candidates of the Congress were defeated in the Saturday ballot. He had said that he would resign from the party post if he lost from his Sadar Bazar constituency.

The AAP Tuesday raced towards a landslide win in the Delhi assembly election, with the BJP congratulating AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal.The Congress, which was reduced to eight seats last time, was headed for a rout. The AAP swept all across the capital, including both in the middle class areas and low income neighbourhoods, virtually decimating the Bharatiya Janata Party. (IANS)
