Anil Goswami sacked as Home Secretary

As part of its commitment towards zero tolerance on corruption, the Narendra Modi government has sacked Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami with immediate effect after he was found guilt of trying to block the arrest of former Union Minister Matang Singh in Saradha chit fund scam.

Goswami was earlier summoned by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and PMO. After he was found guilty of the charges, PM Modi asked Rajnath Singh to remove him from the service. Goswami was then asked to resign, which he did gracefully. He was supposed to retire on June 30.

Rural Development Secretary LC Goyal has been appointed as be new Home Secretary. He will take over tomorrow. Goyal is a 1979 batch IAS Officer of Kerala cadre.
